Murphy's was started in 1974 by Fred Murphy as a speed shop serving the local drag racing community and a general automotive repair business. By 1976 when Dover Drag Strip closed, Fred had already begun shifting the racing business over to concentrate on supplying the needs of oval track racers. Murphy's continues to add products and services as demand arises, and has become the largest Hoosier Tire stocking dealer in New York, an authorized Troyer Race Cars, Teo, and Bicknell dealer, an authorized rebuilder of Bert Transmissions and Winters rears to list just a few.
